Director of Development
Salary: c £50k pa plus benefits, depending on experience
We are seeking to appoint a new Director of Development. The Trust, whose mission is to encourage the pursuit of science and enterprise, is about to embark on a new and exciting stage in its history with a major capital project which will greatly enhance the charity’s first class reputation for inspiring children about the wonders of science to helping science start-ups grow and develop. The building of a new science education and innovation centre at Stansfeld Park in Oxford, set in 18 acres of woodland, will provide the UK’s first integrated indoor/outdoor science centre dedicated to primary age children. It will also provide flexible office space for the city’s science entrepreneurs.
Our new Director of Development will have the pivotal responsibility of leading the organisation through the last stage of a capital fundraising campaign for the development of Stansfeld Park (opening in Autumn 2018) and to progress new funding streams for the charity in the future.
A member of the Senior Management Team, he or she will have extensive experience of successfully developing and cultivating partnerships with the goal of raising income through major individual donations, capital or major grants portfolios. They will have experience of leading on corporate income generation and will, ideally, have experience of managing alumni relations and creating programmes of events and collaborations through innovative partnerships and networks. Reporting to the Chief Executive and working collaboratively with colleagues at the Oxford Trust, this is a busy but rewarding role, building on a tried and tested model of sustainability but pushing the boundaries of interest and curiosity in science, helping more young people and young entrepreneurs to be successful.
