IF Oxford Science & Ideas Festival

The Trust provides core support for IF Oxford – the region’s annual celebration of science and ideas. Most recently, we have supported the Festival through the secondment of a Festival Director and Events Manager and through the provision of office space.

Oxford has been home of a science festival for the past twenty years. The Oxford Trust ran the first Oxford Festival of Science and Technology over a single day at the Old Fire Station in January 1992 and we are excited that this legacy continues to grow.

In 2015, the independent charity Oxfordshire Science Festival took over the organisation of the Festival, and in 2018, it was re-branded as a science and ideas festival called IF Oxford, expanding to embrace arts, humanities and social sciences as well as STEM. IF Oxford will next take place from 18–28 October 2019 with activity across the city and also in the south-east Oxford commnities of Cowley, Littlemore and Blackbird Leys. You can look forward to talks and debates, cabaret and family performances along with two busy weekends of exciting hands-on activities, with events tailored for all ages, interests and backgrounds.
