Super Science Saturday inspires families with IF Oxford

October 22, 2025

Celebrating super science! Hundreds of curious festival-goers from Oxfordshire and beyond visited the Science Oxford Centre this October for Super Science Saturday, a fun-filled day of discovery with Science Oxford in partnership with IF Oxford, the science and ideas festival.

 “It was brilliant!”

There was something for everyone to try as visitors of all ages enjoyed hands-on activities in the Exploration Zone, explored the surrounding 15 acres of woodland, and were inspired by visiting researchers, scientists and presenters with IF Oxford.

“What a brilliant place! We’re so lucky to have this in our city.”

Families raced mini rolling-robots and tested materials used to generate star power with UK Atomic Energy Authority. The audience joined in for an ‘Amazing Air’ multi-sensory show with Dr Sarah Bearchell, with fun experiments to prove air really is there. Children marvelled at Brighton Science Festival founder, Richard Robinson’s ’66 Impossible Things’ with fun science tricks with demos to make you think! Visitors commented ‘It was Brilliant!’ and, “We’re so lucky to have this in our city”.

Daniel Scholes, The Oxford Trust’s Head of Education (pictured in main heading photo), said “Hosting our Super Science Saturday as part of the annual IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival is an absolute joy. Along with our regular Science Oxford Centre activities, the day enabled children and families to engage with visiting real-world scientists in an impactful way. All our IF Oxford contributors shared the amazing things they do with such passion and personality that everybody left the Science Oxford Centre buzzing with even more enthusiasm and curiosity than when they arrived.”

Dane Comerford, IF Oxford Director, said: “Delivering this special day with Science Oxford at their Centre is a great way to present the diversity of science and ideas to people of all ages. The Festival brings together over 150 different organisations from across the region and Science Oxford is one of our long-term partners in making complex topics accessible and engaging for all, igniting interest in science through interactive experiences.”

The Oxford Trust is pleased to partner and support another year of IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival. The wide-ranging programme of science and ideas events runs across the city and online until 2nd November, visit if-oxford.com to find out more.

Science Oxford delivers The Oxford Trust’s education and engagement programmes, which aim to inspire young people about STEM.
