Barclays Eagle Labs officially launches at the Wood Centre for Innovation

Set up in partnership with The Oxford Trust, Barclays Eagle Labs is officially launching at The Wood Centre for Innovation in Headington’s fast-growing Health and Life Sciences District.
To celebrate, Barclays Eagle Labs’ will be hosting a week-long series of online launch events, starting with Entrepreneurs in Oxford: how to scale and succeed on Tuesday 6th October – our very own Director of Operations & Enterprise, Matt Francis, is on the panel. The online events are open to any local budding business owner or start-up business in the science or tech sector wanting to find out more about how to survive and thrive in the current economic environment. Eagle Labs UK network
Oxford is one of a network of 25 Barclays Eagle Labs which are aiding nearly 2,000 entrepreneurs to grow their businesses from the places where they live and work. By providing co-working space, cultivating a community of like-minded entrepreneurs and on-site business support, Eagle Labs aim to maximise growth of early stage start-ups.
The Eagle Lab Oxford is focussed on science and tech start-ups aimed at supporting spinout scientists, university graduates and entrepreneurs. The science and tech focus is to help the UK define areas of real competitive advantage on the global stage through its emphasis on industries of the future.
Already five local businesses have signed-up to use the space, including Fuel3D, Oxford RF Solutions, Impair AI, Quorbit and Primea Ltd – Samplesafe.App and will join our thriving community of science and tech start-up businesses at The Wood Centre for Innovation.
On-site business support
The Eagle Lab at The Wood Centre for Innovation provides space for up to 48 entrepreneurs (with current social distancing in place catering for 20). The on-site Ecosystem Manager, Nicki Campling, and dedicated Eagle Lab Manager, Matt Lucas will provide technical expertise, mentoring connections, and networking and though-leadership events to help science and tech businesses flourish. Barclays local business banking teams and specialist high-growth managers are also available to provide banking support to entrepreneurs to help them maximise and accelerate their growth.
Event series
The opening event is followed by a COVID-19 success story showcasing how Isansys Lifecare grew under lockdown on Wednesday 7th October, a panel of speakers will discuss the new funding landscape on Thursday. The series finishes with a fireside chat with Spintex Engineering, a new business to located at The Wood Centre for Innovation, on Friday.
COVID-secure
The space is being carefully curated by the Eagle Lab managers and Oxford Innovation, who run The Wood Centre for Innovation, to ensure it is COVID-secure and that workers and staff feel safe. All those working from Eagle Lab Oxford will have a full briefing before starting.
There is also on-site parking, access to meeting rooms, super-fast broadband and refreshments.

Membership options
Entrepreneurs looking for part-time access to hot-desking can take out a club membership for £120/month or a day pass for £20 but for those who want 24/7 access and a dedicated co-working desk there’s a permanent membership for £295/month. For more information, see here.
