buzzEV loans electric van to Science Oxford
November 5, 2019
buzzEV is loaning one of their fleet of electric vans to our Science Oxford team to assist in the delivery of their STEM outreach programme to primary schools across the Oxford region.
London-based buzzEV offers electric cars and vans for rental to business, sporting and educational establishments across the UK. They’ll soon be providing electric bikes too!
Founder and CEO, Irshad Akhtar said that “buzzEV wants to change the way we look at mobility and make it more efficient and environmentally friendly. The ideology buzzEV offers its customers, is to provide automated App-based short-term hire through to longer term contract hire and leasing options on all electric or plug in hybrid cars and vans. We will provide a complete solution for all your transportation needs including charging and maintenance of the vehicles”.
The mission of the Trust is to encourage the pursuit of science and enterprise and the partnership with buzzEV works on both levels. Enterprise – buzzEV is a young, innovative company that’s changing the way we think about transport. Secondly, education – buzzEV is keen to educate the current and next generations about clean energy and sustainability and that’s where Science Oxford comes in.
As Irshad said, “We are excited about working with Science Oxford because we want to reach young people and teach them about sustainability. We look forward to seeing the buzzEV electric van in primary schools across the region over the next few months.”
Our Science Oxford team is passionate about encouraging young people about science, technology, engineering and maths. Although we have launched the amazing new Science Oxford Centre at Stansfeld Park this year, Science Oxford continues to run an extensive outreach programme for primary schools in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. They provide a wide range of activities from the Science of Magic Show and the Sound of Science to Discover Materials and Coding Robot workshops. Not only that, Science Oxford offers a science kit loan service for schools, runs CPD training for primary teachers as well as organising the Big Science Event every year. Every year they reach nearly 30,000 pupils and 50 schools with their workshops and shows.
As Steve Burgess, CEO, The Oxford Trust, said “We are very pleased to be partnering with buzzEV on this pilot project. The new electric van will be fantastic for delivering our Science Oxford outreach programme to primary schools across the region. It will help us inspire more young people about the wonders of science and allow the team to expand their reach and impact”.
Our new science education centre and innovation centre at Stansfeld Park has plenty of green credentials, including solar PV, air-source heat pumps, a green roof, solar shading and, of course, electric charging points in the car park. Perfect for our new buzzEV electric van, which is already plugged in!
Thanks, buzzEV. We’re looking forward to getting the van charged up and on the road after the half term break!
