Evenlode staff take a day out to help at Stansfeld Park
December 17, 2018
Not only is Evenlode Investments generously supporting the development of our new Science Oxford Centre at Stansfeld Park but their eleven staff have spent a day helping us out in the woodland too!
Dr Roger Baker, our Outdoor Learning and Ecology Manager, and Paul Dryden, our Director of Development, in collaboration with Oxford Conservation Volunteers put the Evenlode team to work. To add to the trees planted by The Oxford Trust a few weeks ago, Evenlode staff put in an oak tree – very significant for the company as it’s also their logo. The main task was helping us install a series of steps and handrails from the grassland area to one of the woodland hollows to give greater access to the site. All the team’s hard work was rewarded with delicious bacon butties and a blackberry and apple crumble at lunchtime, all cooked on an open fire. And their day will be remembered by a slate plaque fittingly engraved with their oak tree logo.
The men behind equity investment company Evenlode are brothers-in-law Hugh Yarrow and Ben Peters. Unlike most institutional investors who work out of a skyscraper in London, the duo runs the company out of a low-rise converted barn in rural Oxfordshire. Since setting up in 2009, the fund has soared and they now manage millions with clients all over the UK. On the back of this, they have launched a Global Income Fund too.
The company’s extraordinary success has meant Evenlode has been able to give back by supporting local projects that they care about. They currently sponsor Chipping Norton Scouts, Cropredy Cricket Club, the Charlbury Community Centre, the Southill Community Energy solar project and as well as participating in the Chipping Norton School careers programme. Partnering with The Oxford Trust is a good fit for them as it aligns with their interest in innovation and education and the company is generously supporting our new Science Oxford Centre over the next five years. As an ex-physics teacher, founder and company director Ben is right behind inspiring young people about science, technology, engineering and maths and so are we!
The team positively engage with the companies that they invest in on behalf of their clients and they hope to do the same with their community too. They definitely do. Thank you, Evenlode!
