Making Tracks
November 7, 2018
Rejuvenation of the stunning 15-acre woodland at Stansfeld is progressing well and bespoke boardwalks and platforms are now being installed around the ponds closest to the centre to enable access for all. This work could not have happened without support from several key organisations. The Patsy Wood Trust, named after the local environmentalist, has given us a generous grant to support the first phase of the regeneration of the woodland at Stansfeld Park with the Hamilton Trust helping fund key educational elements. Specialist company, Greenspace Design is designing, building and installing the boardwalks and platforms using timber from sustainable British woodland. And local company Autotrak recently donated a trackway creating a stable route to allow delivery of heavy loads to the construction site around the ponds. Thank you!
The two main ponds in the woodland – both currently looking a bit empty after the long, hot summer – are now in the process of being cleaned up and planted out to encourage wildlife to flourish across the site. We hope that they will be totally transformed for the opening of Stansfeld Park in 2019.
