Official Breaking Ground Ceremony at Stansfeld Park
March 26, 2018
After all the recent snowfall, we were lucky to have a bright warm day for our official Breaking Ground Ceremony at Stansfeld Park on Wednesday. Members of The Oxford Trust team, our patrons Sir Martin and Lady Audrey Wood, Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire Tim Stevenson and representatives from the construction company Beard came to celebrate the start of our amazing science education/innovation centres project in Headington.
And what greater way to kick of proceedings than with a hearty breakfast, courtesy of local roving caterers The Wandering Kitchen. The hot chocolate was especially enjoyed by children from local schools – Wood Green, St Andrews and Windmill Primary – who attended the event and will particularly benefit from our new Science Oxford Centre.
Kenny Hale, Beard Project Manager, presented our Chair of Trustees, John Boyle, and our CEO, Steve Burgess with a specially-engraved spade to commemorate the day. After donning hard hats and high-vis jackets, guests went on to the building site for an official photo (see above).
Breaking Ground marks the official start of the development of our new innovation centre and Science Oxford Centre at Stansfeld Park. The project will open a new chapter for the Trust and represents our continued commitment to prioritise investment in primary science education and support Oxford’s early stage innovation ecosystem. It will enable the Trust to further its mission and expand the impact of our work across the region.
