Stansfeld woodland restoration project – get involved!
October 4, 2016
If you love the outdoors and a spot of heavy-duty gardening, come along to Stansfeld Park on Sunday 6th November from 10AM – 4PM and join in with woodland clearing!
We’ve teamed up with Oxford Conservation Volunteers (OCV) to run some woodland clearing days at Stansfeld Park in Headington Quarry – the site which will be home to our new innovation and science education centre in 2018. Currently the 15-acre woodland on the site is very overgrown, with brambles blocking footpaths and ponds hidden behind and beneath overgrowth.
We want to restore the woods back to their past glory, ready for schools and the local community to enjoy once Stansfeld Park is open for business. If you’d like to come and help please register to the OCV mailing list at www.ocv.org.uk/list
Our second visit of the season to help in the rejuvenation of Stansfeld Park will carry on the work begun in September, opening up the paths and knocking back invasive scrub, but we’ll also do some hedge-laying on a 30 meter section of hedge.
More details about the day can be found here: www.ocv.org.uk and information about the site here.
We are planning more clear-up days during the autumn months, so if you can’t make this one keep a look out for details of the next OCV event.
